Nathan Bailey is an educator and percussionist from Orland Park, Illinois. He holds a music education degree from the University of Kentucky under Prof. James Campbell and Prof. Paul Deatherage.
As an active music educator, Nathan is a member of the marching percussion and visual staff at the 20-time KMEA Class 5A Grand Champion, Lafayette High School (Lexington, KY), as well as the 8-time class A Bands of America National Champion, Adair County High School (Columbia, KY). He has also taught marching percussion at Lockport Township High School (Lockport, IL) and Carl Sandburg High School (Orland Park, IL). Nathan maintains a private lesson studio of percussion and drumset students.
As an active performer, Nathan’s playing has taken him across the United States. His ensembles have performed at prestigious events such as the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, The Midwest Clinic Band and Orchestra Conference, the Mormon Tabernacle, as well as multiple Illinois and Kentucky music education conferences. In 2016, Nathan marched bass drum as a member of the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps under the direction of James Sparling, Dann Petersen, and Chris Komnick.
In his free time, Nathan enjoys cooking, running, and attempting to train his dog, Dexter. When listening to music, Nathan is entertained by his favorite jazz drummers: Art Blakey, Buddy Rich, Philly Joe Jones, and Elvin Jones.
